Archery Refs
Archery is a great sport for children of all ages from 8 and upwards and can become a lifelong pastime. It encourages responsibility, develops concentration, and is great fun!
There is a national attainment badge and grading scheme that gives a sense of progression without having to take examinations. Archery is also a recognised sport that can contribute towards the relevant GCSEs.
Archery does not require great strength. Given the appropriate bow and coaching, any child can participate successfully. However, recurve bows do impose a height requirement on the archer.
The coaches will be happy to discuss with you any questions you may have as to your child's suitability for the sport
The GNAS qualified coaches will advise you on what will be happening at each session of the beginners course and are happy to answer any questions.
We welcome family participation, and children and parents may take the course together.
The coaches are also happy to advise on kit following the course. The club itself has a stock of loan equipment available for the beginners first shooting season, and can also point you towards appropriate rental or purchase. As a rough guide, a junior archer can purchase a reasonable standard of bow and equipment for less than £200 should they decide to take the sport further after their first season.
The club operates best practice in terms of child protection. You can find out more about this from our child protection officers.
