We have two fields that we shoot on

Outdoor - Large Field

During the summer we mainly use the large field (rugby pitch area).  This can be found at the far end of the main car park at the main entrance to the Harwell Campus.  At the moment we have temporary storage for the equipment in a container on the field.  We also have a small pavilion which we use for personal equipment and shelter while we are shooting.  We are expecting more permanent storage behind this small pavilion in the near future.  The grass is well maintained and regularly cut by the Harwell RecSoc.  We hold parts of our beginners courses on this field on Tuesday evenings.

The field is large enough for us to hold our annual open shoot “The Diana,” club shooting at 100 yards and also allows us to do clout, but not at the same time as target archery.  We have entire use of this field on Tuesday and Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and all day Sundays during the summer months.  In the winter we only have the field Saturday and Sunday mornings until 1.30pm.

Outdoor - Small field

In the winter months we use the smaller field adjacent to the new pavilion where we can shoot up to 60 yards.  We mainly use this field for Frostbites and Short Metrics etc.  We have access to this field on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

We hold part of our beginners courses on Saturday mornings on this field (summer and winter)

Main Pavilion

We have our club room within the main pavilion, where we also store some of our equipment.  The pavilion is heated, has a kitchen area, members / meeting area, changing rooms and toilets.
Indoor Shooting

During the winter months (beginning of October to end of March) we shoot indoors on a Friday evening at John Mason school’s sports hall.

The school is situated close to Abingdon’s town centre with ample parking just outside the sports hall.  We can easily fit 8 targets across the hall and shoot at a distance up to 25 yards (30m is very tight).  A full width back stop net is put across to protect the hall and the arrows.
We have an indoor postal league once a month where everyone will shoot a Portsmouth.

We also shoot, Fita 18, Fita 25, Worcester’s and Bray 1 and 11 and team shoots.

We also like to host fun shoots both inside and outside throughout the year.  These have ranged from Halloween shoots to darts nights.
